Nick and I didn’t have an easy time sleeping on the tour bus like everyone else, so instead we would take the window seat, push our windows out, lean our heads and one arm out, and just shout hello to people in Khmer and smile and wave. You say hello by just replacing the T with an S in the word “Tuesday.” Anyway, pretty much every single person that we said hello to smiled at us enthusiastically, genuinely, and waved back at us. This was from people standing around their shops to kids on bikes in the opposite direction to people rolling past us on their motorbikes. I just thought about the US, and wondered if people in the states would react the same if people did that. I thought about Sam leaning out of his truck. I don’t think people in the states would be as cool with it.
