The last thing we did was go to Angkor Tom, which is a similar set of temples. Oh, right, I also had climbed to the top of Angkor Wat earlier and it was really amazingly pretty and very tall and I wondered how the hell they built it. Angkor Tom was much the same way but not quite as elegant. After just a little bit of climbing, we all decided to sit at the top in the shade near a breeze and hang out and talk. Nick tried to smoke but a guard got very angry at him and told him to stop. He probably just should have known.
Anyway, we walked around later to where the bus was supposed to be and just hung out with the merchants. They tried to sell us some stuff, but I don’t know if we bought anything. We ended up just sitting on a tree next to them. They even gave us a plank to put on the tree to make it less painful for us. The one woman kept screaming the same line about “Hey lady do you want coke water cold water I have cold lady!” I don’t know if she just memorized that line or if she really knew enough English to put it together on her own, because she changed it sometimes. In either case she was MAD skilled at cutting pineapples. Her kids were there too, I think, and they were also pretty skilled.
We skipped on going to the Elephant’s Temple or whatever because there weren’t going to be any temples, and same on the Warrior’s Temple. It was really hot, and we weren’t really learning anything from just looking at temples, so we decided to hang out with the merchants instead. I drew a picture on a ripped piece of paper before I left and put it on the tree where they let us sit.
