The signs in Japan are pretty funny. There was this one ubiquitous sign that was usually worked into the tiles of the sidewalks. It was a cigarette with legs, bending over while walking as if it were sad, and it said “Please don’t smoke while walking.” I guess it was probably just because people hate having smoke blown in their faces, but I also wondered if it was because they thought it was like texting and walking and people were incapable of doing it.
There was another sign I got a picture of that I really liked. There were reserved/priority seats on the subway, and the sign had a picture for each type of person that could sit there. The first one was elderly people, and the person had a cane. Then there was injured people, and there was a crutch beside the person. The next was pregnant, then those carrying infants, with accompanying pictures of course. The last one just had a person sitting still, normal, except their heart was outlined.
I wondered if they were saying people in love needed their own seat.
That would have been pretty cool. But it was just for people who were using medical apparatuses. Oh well.
