Lenses

//

I found Toby at breakfast the next morning and he told me he had found discount lens shops after looking for a very long time and found a great lens at a great price and you could even haggle just a little!  I was excited and wanted to go, so he showed me where it was on a map, and I asked if anyone else wanted to go and Eric said he would come because he was looking for some wide angle lenses.

We walked to the place where it was – not very far at all – but it wasn’t open yet.  It was 9:55 and it opened at 10.  Eric said he was hungry, so we went to a restaurant literally the next place over and I had some milk tea while he had some noodles and soup.  We went back to the camera area later and looked around, but couldn’t find any shops, so we asked someone working there and they told us to go upstairs.  It still looked close, but as soon as we turned the corner we were seriously bombarded with lenses and camera bodies.  It was kind of unreal.  I’ve never seen so many optics and bodies in my life.  Ironically I didn’t bring my camera with me.

They didn’t have any Canon EOS 7d bodies, which I guess I should have expected because they’re so new and these places were all second hand, and it was fine.  I helped Eric look for a lens, which really just means I hung out with him.  Eventually he picked one from the first store we stopped in.  We got it down to $156US, and later found out that it sells for $500US new in any store in the states.  He took some shots with it that night and was really happy with it.  I was glad.

I used the internet for a little bit.  I was on Facebook for like a hot minute but it’s kind of annoying to use here, really, so I just hardly bother.  I mostly read emails about Thon and thought about sending some back, but didn’t.  I think I sent some emails to other people that day but can’t remember.  The THON emails were really great and made me incredibly proud to be a part of Springfield.  I wish more than almost anything that I could have been at Thon.  At the very least for the final four hours.  We raised 7.8 million (Springfield shattered its own record with 177,000) and apparently we just had a great time and a great THON for Springfield.
